1. Fit the bit: open the chuck or twist collar, insert the bit fully, and lock it before switching on. 2. Choose direction — forward for the right hand, reverse for the left — so the bit works with your hand, not against it. 3. Start at a LOW speed. Speed does not remove more product; pressure and the wrong bit do the damage. 4. Keep the bit moving. Holding it in one spot builds heat quickly and that is what causes burning. 5. Work flat to the nail, using the side of the bit rather than the point. 6. Switch off before removing the bit, and clean and disinfect bits between clients. Tip: if the client feels heat, you are too slow with the bit or pressing too hard — lift and keep moving.
